Credit for Your Foreign Education

You may be closer than you think toward completing a Canadian university education!

If you started or finished a university or college education outside Canada, you may be able to receive credit toward a Canadian degree.

Applying your foreign courses toward a Canadian degree can save you time and money—you may not have to take all the courses in the Canadian program. And you can take the remaining courses over the Internet or by mail (distance education).

This means you can complete the degree wherever you live in Canada or around the world. You can take one or two courses at a time and study in your spare time.

How to apply your foreign education to a Canadian degree

  1. Select a distance or online degree
  2. Apply for admission to the university offering the degree and ask how to have your foreign credentials evaluated. Sometimes the university will ask you to send your transcripts to an evaluation service and sometimes the university will ask you to send transcripts directly to the university.
  3. The university will contact you with your admission status or to let you know how many credits you may be able to receive toward the degree you would like to complete.
