Canadian Virtual University - Distance Education  Requires Strict Self-Discipline

am i ready for distance education?

Distance learning is not for everyone

For many of the distance degrees listed on this website, the only admission requirement is that you be 16 years or older.

High motivation and self-discipline can be even more important than how much previous education you have.

Typically, our students are adults who want a university education to advance their careers and who have to juggle their education with family and work commitments.

As well, distance courses are popular with on-campus university students who can't get the courses they need at their own university.

A distance course can fill the gaps

To help you decide if distance education is for you, ask yourself:

  • Are you strongly motivated to achieve your education goals?
  • Are you comfortable without face-to-face interaction?
  • Are you able to work independently, without frequent deadlines to motivate you?
  • Are you prepared to devote 10 to 15 hours of study time per week, per course?
  • Are you comfortable using email, computers, and other technologies that may be required for some courses?
  • Can you understand written instructions and complex material on your own?

If this sounds like you, then you may be ready to tackle university distance education.
